I won this book and I didn't know it was the 2nd book in the sequel. But it still held up as a great stand alone book.
Emily/Alice was on the run after her parents and sister were murdered and she was trying to survive. Luckily she met a guy named Lucas who took her under his protection. Only issue was Alice has a problem with her temper and acts before she fully thinks things through and it gets her in trouble . So she winds up in jail.
There she has to use her brains and wits to stay out of trouble and stay alive. She starts working in the library with miss mava and they develop an interesting camaraderie. Then Lucas finally finds Alice and they work on some plans to get her out of jail. In the meantime she meets a boy in her GED class that has romantic potential. Her cell mate is quiet and troubled and Alice trys to help her. Then theres a bully Lola and they finally gained respect for each other.
I thought this book was pretty good. Fast paced and kept your interest
