Once again Dorian Box has impressed me with his second book in the Emily Calby series, Girl in Cell 49B.

When we last left Emily she was back with Lucas living as his adopted daughter Alice Black. It's been 3 years since the events of book one and we pick up on Emily's 16th birthday where she has just received a 9mm gun, complete with scratched off serial number, from Lucas and a warning not to leave home with it as she is still a minor. But Emily does just that when she has an argument with Lucas and storms out. And when she comes across a man verbally abusing his woman she steps in and ends up having to defend herself from an attack. Police are called and Emily winds up cuffed in the back of a police car where her true identity is discovered and she learns she is wanted for the murder of a man she killed in self defense when she was 13.

Emily is sent to a corrupt juvenile prison while she awaits trial. What follows is her story behind prison walls. Her relationship with fellow inmates, the corruption of some guards and her fight to find evidence to free herself.

The books was a fast paced read from start to finish. Like book one I had trouble putting it down.
I immensely enjoyed it and easily give another 5 star review to his second book.

On a last note I would say this book can be read as a stand alone novel but I highly recommend reading book one so you don't miss out on the relationship that was forged between Emily and Lucas in book one. Plus book one gives more background into Emily's character.
