Unfortunately, I have not yet read The Hiding Girl, but I think The Girl in Cell 49 B could work as a stand alone novel. I think I would like to read the prequel first, though. Poor Emily seems to have been through quite a bit in her short life. I’m intrigued to know what, if anything, she did to deserve such a fate and how she might get out of it
