I tried to read this book but there were too many characters to keep it all straight. This would be a great book for someone who was interested in this area of Texas and its history but it wasn’t a good fit for me. The book looks at new rich people in comparison to the poverty that exists in this area. In a short period of time, the town becomes a tourist attraction that covers up the real history. While the town blooms, this is the story about a family that destroys itself.
This is a story about in the descendants of the original families who settled in the area. More than a story about family, this is a story and money and greed.
