It wasn't my cup of tea
The premise was very interesting: the story follows two intermarried pioneer families in a small town of Fredericksburg. I wanted to like this book - the cover is mysterious/ amazing and I could relate to the story set in Texas.
What didn't work for me: although this is a thin book, I struggled to read it since the plot was quite confusing- the numerous story lines and the structure made it hard to follow, plus I felt the plot flat. Also, the characters were just fine and I didn't get involved with them.
Having said that, the small-town politics and conflicts presented in this book are realistic, becoming subjects matter to think about.
This book just wasn't for me but it might be a good read for others.
