I loved the atmospheric writing and fleshed-out characters

There is just so much to enjoy in this one! I don't even know where to start! This author is a pro at atmosphere! I got so lost in these twenty pages that I was actually inside the story- I was in this small Texas town with a rich history of German settlers. The drama between Carel and his daughter, Carel and the town. Just so much drama that I am ready for! Another thing this author does amazingly well is writing three-dimensional characters. I felt like I was watching a movie in my head with little effort on my part aside from reading the words he's written. I was surprised to find myself at home when I finished and came up for air. It's that good! Oh and the cover! Such a beautiful and fitting cover!
