I'm not going to lie...part of the reason I picked up this book is because someone described it to me as being reminiscent of Six of Crows. While it did indeed have lots of fun scheming, it was also quite different, but nevertheless enjoyable. First of all, the cast of characters was marvelously diverse, and not in a token way. Each character's background really brought something to the story, which I appreciated! I also really enjoyed the friendships and dynamics between the characters, and how they developed over the course of the book. The plot was fast paced, filled with antics and puzzles. While the ending did feel a bit abrupt, it was not unsatisfactory. I will say that at times the book just felt a bit too full for me (lots of metaphors, different characters, different mythologies, etc...) but this was mitigated a bit by the humor, the tender moments between characters, and the lovely writing.
