The premise of this story really got me excited, as well as the absolutely beautiful cover. However, never judge a book by its cover! Also, the hype surrounding the book, especially comparing it to SIX OF CROWS made me push this book farther up my tbr!
First, the world-building was not very well done and it was either very info-dumpy or hardly any information was given at all. The mythology surrounding this story was just not explained and i found myself confused multiple times throughout the novel. This definitely took me out of the book and made the experience not enjoyable. Also, the book is set in the late 1800s but the writing style and the world building hardly does anything to support it.
