It's not what I expect (in a good way!)

I kept seeing this book all over the internet when it first came out, but I read the summary and it didn't really appeal to me (that historical period isn't my jam). I did, however, receive this in an OwlCrate box, so I decided to give it a shot. I'm so glad I did!

This draws a lot of comparison to Six of Crows (and for good reason), but it's such a different world. Set in 1889 Paris, it follows a band of friends as they attempt to steal back a lost heirloom (and reclaim their rightful place in the world). It has a unique magic system, though I still don't fully understand it. It also has several twists and turns, and a very surprising ending (Silvered Serpents, I need you!)

The writing is lovely, as is all of Choski's work, and the multiple POVs are written well.
