I came into this book looking to scratch that itch I had developed for found family and the shenanigans that ensue after reading Leigh Bardugo's Six of Crows. Much like SOC this book is a wonderful mix of found family meets Ocean's Eleven and this one also has a wonderful addition of secret societies in 19th century Paris. With a wonderful cast of diverse characters, this book provides strong feminist and queer representation.
The sheer chemistry between our cast of characters results in numerous wonderful interactions that range from heartfelt to hilarious and really allows the reader to become invested in the characters and their story. Additionally, the heist-based nature of the plot results in lots of fun mysteries and puzzles for those who enjoy being a little more involved in the plot while reading. This is the first book in a trilogy and it ends on a note that makes me eager to read the sequels.
