This book was frantic and frenetic and full constant activity. I found it hard to follow because there were all these characters and all these types of magic and the author keeps hitting you with new little bits of incident and magic and you don't really know how it all coheres.

They have something called "Forging" in this, and whenever the books says "Forged" or "Forgery," it basically just means "magicked" or "magick," I guess. And who know what-all it means. There are magic connections between characters and objects and clans and objects, and a magic object can do this or that, or be "Forged" to be "billowing. "Huh? You "Forged" a skirt so that it would "billow"? Couldn't you just hire a good seamstress?

It's a little bit like watching a movie where they all run around a lot, and just throw stuff at you. Some guy had seven fathers? And the seven fathers had seven wives? And he didn't like some of the seven fathers, so some of them died early just because of the dislike? What does that mean, and why am I being told inscrutable details like this? I dunno.

It's just rat-a-tat-tat.
