What a fun ride! Historical heist, treasure hunt, and a great cast of characters. What more could I ask for?

The Guilded Wolves takes place in Paris in the eighteen hundreds. When the Order of Babel seeks wealthy hotelier Severin for help in finding an ancient artifact in exchange for his inheritance, Severin must assemble a group in order to do so.

Let me start by raving about the characters. Not only was the group diverse, but they were all unique in their own way. My favorite of course was Enrique. He was the brilliant historian, Spanish-Filipino and loves food (#relatable). Then there was also Zofia, the mathematician who is also very awkward but equally adorable. There's also Layla the people pleaser, Tristan the botanist, Hypnos the aristocrat, and Severin the leader. Here's something rare that I don't usually get when in multiple povs but definitely got in this one. Each character stuck out. I'm still thinking about all of them. There was this group dynamic that was friendship and loyalty that leapt off the pages.

And what can I say about Roshani Chokshi's writing that I haven't already said before? Her writing in beautiful. It's not just that she has a way with words, but her lyrical prose is beautiful. And her flow of words is so fluid that when you're reading, it doesn't feel like your reading words, but beautiful scenes.

I also really liked the plot. There's historical references, plots and plans, puzzles and magic. Everything just came together effortlessly. It was easy to follow along even with all the POVs. The pacing also works. There were times where I felt like it dragged on a bit, or like things seemed too obvious, but overall there was a steady pacing with its fair share of action.

Overall, I loved every second of this book and I can't wait to read the next one. In fact, I am anticipating. This has something for everyone. Adventure, history, treasure and more!
