I was really hoping to enjoy this story. It is a heist set in a 18th century France, with magic. The characters are working together to pull of this heist, and the main character seems to have a secret past that has brought them all to conducting said heist. It reminded me a lot of Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo in terms of plot; however, I was bored by the story. There was nothing that particularly made me care about the characters. I wound up quitting the book a third of the way in, and even at that point not much had been revealed. I've tried reading Roshani's other book and didn't mesh with that either. I still want to try her middle grade novel, however I probably will not try any of her other YA books.
