I thoroughly enjoyed the story. The characters all have a unique perspective on the plot and their own unique goals, but they also each encounter conflict and interact with each other differently. I also really appreciate the autistic-coded character and watching her analyze situations, occasionally stumble, and learn from the interactions. We also get characters subjected to cultural stereotypes, how these assumptions hurt them, how they overcome them - and there's even a conversation about white-passing versus not. The sheer depth of understanding that goes into the character interactions was exactly what we need in YA fantasy today.

Also, the heist itself was smart. It had some Tomb Raider/Indiana Jones-style puzzle solving (where characters whose strengths are in history, language, and even mathematics get to take the stage and offer guidance and solutions). There was a brilliant increase in tension and scope as the plot progressed and ended with a brilliant (if somewhat gimmicky) setup for the sequel.
