I had really high expectations going in to this book. In the end, it was nothing I was anticipating, but I think I liked that even more. From the title, I anticipated a dystopian novel along the lines of Warrior of the Wild or Three Dark Crowns. However, the best description I can give is Caraval meets Oceans 11. Magic and thieves. I loved it. The team work and the different point-of-views really added to the story. The friendship forged was inspiring and this is not usually the case in books. We typically see a male and female character with the occasional sidekick. However, this book was a team effort and each person was needed and important. I took off a star because there were a couple of things I felt were not needed, but I don’t want to spoil anything by saying what it was.
