Alright
The Gilded Wolves premise makes it seem like it would be part Six of Crows and part The Davinci Code. Instead it fell flat. For about 70% of the book, the characters didn't interest me. The plot heist was just sort of there, without any of the high stakes tension it should of had. The only character I really liked and connected to was Zofia, who I wanted to have more of. The idea of Laila was good, the actual presentation though focused so much on the angst between her and Severin that I found myself not caring anymore. The magic system and exploration of cultures and religions was by far the best part of the book. It was also a bit confusing at times, but I get like that was to be expected when doing something like this.
