Reading the introductory portion of this book left me wanting more. This book is built on a theme of mysteries and secrets and is set in the romantic backdrop of France. The main character Severin epitomizes mystery. He has physical characteristics that you are certain have a story behind them; and you want to know that story. Just in the first few pages of the book, one begins to piece together his story, and in doing so, one begins to relate and connect with him. Even though the story is set in an ordinary place, France, there are fantastical aspects to the story. While these elements do add a bit of confusion to the story at first, they also make the story fun and engaging. All in all, a mysterious and compelling read!
