World War II historical fiction isn't my favorite genre even though I do consider myself a big historical fiction fan. With that said, I was drawn to this book because of the incorporation of the Auschwitz war trials. As expected, this book had some heartbreaking subject matter regarding the concentration camps. Reading about the camps was difficult but I think it's important to remember.

The main character, Eva, was an interesting character to follow. I enjoyed her storyline but it did take some time to get into the book and to really connect with Eva. I discovered that this book is translated from German to English which may have affected my connection to the story.

Overall, I think this book tells an important story and I would recommend it to historical fiction fans and anyone interested in the aftermath of World War II.
