Eva is a Polish translator who gets involved in a war crimes trial. While her memory of the war is hazy, as she was just a child, through her job she begins to learn about the horrific things that happened to Jews during the war. While her family and her wealthy fiancé want her to stop going to the job, Eva is drawn too it and sees real importance in her role helping victims tell the world what happened to them. I don't want to give away any spoilers, but this book also serves as a story of self examination and self exploration. I think it may have been translated from German, so the flow is not always seamless, but it is an important and interesting work of fiction that I truly enjoyed.
