"The German House" is set during the time of the Frankfurt Auschwitz trials in the early 1960's. Those on trial were officers that carried out extortion and termination via the worst means. Eva is a young lady who is called upon to translate during the trials. This is the first time I have read a book that is set during the trials. Evidently, Germans did not teach too much about the Holocaust as Eva seems a bit naïve about what went on during that bleak part of history. What she learns about family rocks her world. Follow Eva as she learns about the atrocities of Auschwitz and her fiancé. The side story of Annegret, Eva's sister, was interesting as well. That was one sick lady. Not sure if it is the translation, but the writing seemed to lack emotion at the end. Thanks to BookishFirst, Ms. Hess, and HarpterVia, for the opportunity to read and review this book.
