This book is a hard read, but any book about World War 2 and what happened in Auschwitz is hard to read. It takes on a different view however, with a family in Germany set in the late 1960's.
Eva is a translator in the first trials of the SS officers. Her family owns a restaurant which she also helps out in. It is of the story of what happened in the past and the effects it has in the future. Not only to the families who were killed in Auschwitz but of the families who "did not know" what was happening there.
It is a very sad story, as all stories of the war are.
