The German House revolves around Eva, a Polish interpreter during the Frankfurt Auschwitz Trials was in Germany. In the course of the trial, Eva discovers her parents have a connection to the trial, but are unwilling to let Eva know exactly what the connection is. Also detailed in the book are the romantic life of Eva and her boyfriend Jurgen, and the life of Annegret, Eva’s sister.

This book was somewhat hard to for me to follow. There were no chapters, only four very long “parts”. There were some longer paragraph breaks, but that was all. My main complaint, however, is that the writing jumps from talking about one character to another, sometimes within the same paragraph. Often from one paragraph to another, events from unrelated characters were being discussed. It made it all difficult to follow.

Overall, this was a good book, just hard to read at times. Solid three star novel!
