The German House was an unexpected story. i couldn't wait to read a story about the trials. i devour books about world war II and the holocaust and love to get new perspectives. i've never read a story that involved the trials and actually would have liked a lot of more of that aspect of the story but it was wrenching all the same. I also have never read a story from the war from the perspective of a "regular" German citizen. it was fascinating to see the mindset of germans and what they thought was happening, what they did, etc. it's not an easy read, a bit dry, but that does not take away from the story or from the fact this is a great book. the only character i didn't 100% lover or perhaps understand was the sister.
