Historical Fiction is best when it can not only entertain you with its drama, but also teach you a bit about the true stories of years ago, something that "The German House" seems quite adept at doing! Eva sounds like an interesting character that will likely be caught up in two competing sides, one that likes the stability that marrying Jurgen will likely bring to her, but also the new sensibilities of others trusting her translation skills and having the freedom to be something she was unable to do previously. I like the idea of having a coming-of-age type tale in which figuring out a sense of self is set against the Aushwitz Trials in which time was reexamined, and an re-accounting for actions taken needed to be made, causing a renewed round of looking at ourselves in the mirror. The two seem to pair quite well and it would be interesting to examine further how Eva's experience at the Trials will influence her own personal life and ideas.
