It is necessary for me to preface this review by saying that is was a DNF for me. Admittedly, I did not have high hopes from the beginning that this book would hold my attention. While I am open to any genre, I have as of late begun to only digest nonfiction via audiobook - and I must say that I wish I could have had this option here. While it is a fantastic read and jam packed with knowledge and interesting tidbits, I just could not force myself to finish. I made it through 3 parts of the 4 before ultimately giving up - and even for the first 3, I found myself skimming some pages and skipping some full passages.

In my opinion, this story could have been just as well conveyed with a few less stories weaved throughout. 100 pages less detail and I would have been just as happy with what I walked away with - maybe even moreso. All that to say, the connection to present day at the end was a thankful plus. (Yes, I skipped the fourth section but did read the last few pages!)
