Fascinating

I am an oncologist so I find genetics fascinating in general. I loved the cover of this book and thought it was perfect for the topic. The Genome Odyssey takes you from The Humane Genome Project to sequencing and interpreting an entire genome. Dr. Ashley details how he and his colleagues used this information to help treat patients and identify potential future problems. The stories of discovery and scientific progress were relevant and interesting. I found some of the writing a bit dry and there was a lot of name dropping (likely intended to give credit) but the author did a good job of taking the reader through a journey of a complicated subject. It highlights the important of continuing to explore and push the boundaries of science and medicine. I definitely recommend this for anyone with an interest in science but it is a great read for everyone.
