I recently graduated college and, thought I thought I would have left the world of research and footnotes behind, I am glad to have read this novel.
The field of medicine is by no means my playground, but the detail the author went into about each specific case was fascinating. I have always love true crime and supernatural phenomenon and found these medical mysteries to be right up my alley.
That being said, it did drag at points, the exposition a bit much at times, and the depth of medical knowledge a little overwhelming.
Overall, though, I do think it's worth a read if you are entering the medical field and want something interesting to spend your time on, but for the everyday reader, especially one who doesn't care to branch out of your comfort zone too much, I would suggest perhaps passing on this one for now.
