The Genome Odyssey is a fascinating exploration of the role the human genome plays in determining predisposition to disease. Dr. Euan Angus Ashley has created a compelling and informative nonfiction work that reads like a novel. His voice and narrative style make this book highly engaging. I love how he presents case studies that effectively showcase how modern science has been used to unravel medical mysteries and to save the lives of real-life patients. The complexities of the human genome are truly astonishing and recent breakthroughs give me hope for the future. I would love for Dr. Ashley to provide a follow-up to this book that more fully examines the role of genes in the onset of cancer. This book has expanded my field of thought and I look forward to seeing how researchers in the field of genetics continue to make important discoveries!
