Time travel is not only possible but somewhat prevalent in this near-future tale of timelines gone wrong. Beth and Tess, two women with roots in the riot grrl movement, want a freer future, but as ever, there are men who don't want that to happen. The past, the future, the present, and things wholly unrelated to our own timeline begin to intertwine as the two fight and rock out.

The writing is a little stilted, but I appreciate the straightforward explanations and Tess's refreshing directness. I also appreciate the no-holds-barred feminist critiques. The combined mysteries of the conservative time-travelers and the murder mystery definitely kept me engaged. I usually don't like time travel since the paradoxes start piling up, but this is more character-driven from what I can tell, and I'm excited to get the full book.
