Claire, a hardworking, hard on herself, hard on others, accountant leaves her New York City life to both escape an unwanted engagement and to help her abusive grandmother into a nursing home. But Claire starts to notice some weird things happening around her. She isn’t receiving her mail. The basement window was open. And a man in a beat up Lincoln Continental keeps following her.

I was really excited to read the first few chapters of this book. Claire sucked me in immediately, because I saw parts of her personality that reflected mine. Add in a creepy stalker? Alright, bet. I’m down. But the story fell a little flat for me. I lost a lot of the momentum that I picked up in the beginning and I never really got it back. I’m not saying that it was a horrible read, it was just sort of average. And unrealistic. Could you read this in one sitting? Absolutely. It would be another perfect title to pad your Goodreads challenge with. But yknow. Don’t expect like, fireworks.
