This book reads like the author wanted to write a guide for women to succeed in the corporate world. Every interaction the protagonist has is accompanied by a lengthy thought process about why she is doing everything she's doing. This is particularly obvious when she's interacting with the first secondary female character of the book, where she's mentally critiquing the woman's lack of assertion in their interaction. There's no sense of a story in these interactions.
