While this book is technically a follow up to the much beloved Artemis Fowl series, you really don't necessarily need to have read the other books to enjoy this one. It certainly helps, because you will already know the characters a bit, but it is not a prerequisite in my opinion. I read the original series years ago and loved it, but I actually think I may like this one even more! It features the two eleven year old twins, Myles and Beckett, and follows them on crazy adventures. While the shenanigans they get up to are amazing, the brilliance of this story lies in the characters. I really loved Myles and Beckett, and absolutely enjoyed how very different the two of them are. Myles is super neat and clever, while Beckett is always rumpled and sassy. It's a great middle grade read full of adventure!
