What a beautifully written story in a lesser know time period.
What a beautifully written story in a lesser know time period. Ruta Sepetys writes a wonderfully descriptive story set in in 1950's Spain under the fascist dictator, General Franco. I love historical fiction and it was amazing to be taken to a place that I knew nothing about. It was an enriching experience and I loved every moment of it.
This story involves multiple points of view, which I love and feel is important to the story. This story involves a young man, Daniel, who travels to Spain with his Spanish mother and businessman Father. There he meets Ana, a hotel employee, her family and other Americans including a journalist. It follows how the country is effected by the violence of its dictator and how it effects all the characters, including Daniel.
