Predictable ending for a love story but what a mystery! I usually love alternating narrators, but this one started off strong and then stayed heavy with Daniel’s perspective; at the end, I wished it had just been one character throughout. There were times I felt that the “secrets” throughout the book were inflated beyond their weight, mostly Ana’s. But there were some surprising twists! While I didn’t love the matador storyline, I understood that the boys were necessary in unraveling the biggest secret of them all. It’s a fascinating book to bring up in conversation, and a controversial history that you never read about in school. The Author’s Note at the end was the most riveting part for me, for that reason.
