Ruta Sepetys is well known for her ability to piece together an interesting tale and keep the reader hooked. I have always been a fan of historical fiction that has just enough truth weaved into it that I feel as if I am learning truth about the past while still being able to enjoy the world of fiction. This time she takes on the time period of the Spanish Civil War, which admittedly I definitely do not know much about but am eager to read more of the story to get a feel for how life was for people in the country at the time. Much like in Salt to the Sea, chapters alternate between different characters as she sets the background for them and leaves the reader to continue to see how their lives intersect. This book continues to get buzz and I am looking forward to reading it fully
