I have never read a historical fiction book centered around the Spanish civil war.
Not only was this eyed opening, but also enlightened me on things that I didn't
know about the Spanish War. This book tells the story of Francisco Franco's Spain
during the 1950s. Franco is a brutal dictator but he needs American business men
to invest in his country, so he opens its doors to the United States of America. It
definitely taught me more about the Spanish War than school would ever teach me.
I recommend this to anyone one who likes character driven stories and a steady
pacing. This book was the first book I've read by Ruta Sepetys and I know for sure
it won't be the last. She has a way to use words that just hits right.
