I'm surprised I ended up liking this since I usually don't enjoy historical fiction. I liked that we got different perspectives with very different experiences. The main story is between Ana, who works in the hotel, and Daniel, who is visiting Spain with his parents. We see how everything is for the people that lived in Spain during this time period and from a foreigner who only sees what he is shown. He learns a lot a grows while he's there. I had never heard of the situation at the orphanages and it was very enlightening.
I did think sections of the book dragged but I attribute it to it being a genre I don't read often.
The ending was endearing and I loved being able to catch up with all the characters.
