This book is historical fiction and is set in 1957 in Spain. Daniel is an aspiring photographer born from wealthy parents and Ana is a maid struggling since her parents were punished for their political views. This is set during the time of General Franco's regime. There are many other characters in this book and we here from there viewpoints as well.
I really enjoyed this book! I've read all of Ruth Sepetys' books and I love reading Historical Fiction. Learning about Spain in that time period was interesting as I had not known what was going on there at that time. There are also real interviews taken from newspapers that helped make the story more powerful. It's a long book but will keep you interested until the end.
