Fountains of Silence by Ruta Sepetys is a heart warming and beautiful story about the aftermath of the Spanish Civil War. Sepetys has such a beautiful way of writing lyrical stories that are accessible and easy to understand. That being said, I still sometimes find it hard to believe that this is classified as YA because the characters and events are so complex, but Sepetys keeps it interesting and easy to follow. I loved all the characters and the ending tied things up nicely. The cover is also beautiful and intriguing. I loved having the opportunity to learn about a lesser know event in world history and appreciate Sepetys's research and attention to detail that went into writing such a compelling story.
