This was my first Ruta Sepetys book, and I have to say, after hearing all the amazing things about her other books, I was a little disappointed by this one.

The whole plot and idea of this book is really intriguing and it's what kept me interested in this book throughout the entire book, but it seemed to take forever for the actual plot of the book to start.

I did not like the time jump towards the end. What happened in that time was obviously important and it seemed crazy to leave that time out.

The romance and friendships in this book were really wholesome and made my heart full.

Overall, I did learn a lot about 1950's Spain and what it was like back then, but the plot seemed to move slowly and I didn't learn too much about our characters until page 300.
