While this book was not as "heavy" as some of Ruta's other novels, I thoroughly enjoyed this one and did not want it to end. The characters were well-written and even though there were several POVs, I never had trouble following which character was narrating. They all had distinctive voices and felt well-written. I also loved the world-building and all the descriptions of Spain in the 1950s. So much about the Franco dictatorship of Spain was unknown to me - which is one thing that I love about Ruta's books, they introduce me to situations or periods in history that are not commonly known. I will probably spend a significant amount of time reading and learning more about the Franco dictatorship.
