The Fountains of Silence by Ruta Sepetys was a buddy read this month with Bookish Ladies Club. It is probably not a book I would have chosen on my own.

This informative book is based in Madrid, Spain in 1957 under General Francisco Franco's fascist dictatorship. I didn't know much about it before reading this book based on its post War state.

It is an emotional and eye opening story about two people, Daniel and Ana, who are very different that fall in love despite all that is going on around them though it doesn't work out until later. The book was told from multiple POV's which was a little confusing at times because the Chapters skip around. It felt like Daniel was the main character, but there was also a lot of dialog about Ana's family, Fugo's bullfighting and Puri's work at the orphanage. Overall, a decent read.
