I really enjoyed reading The Fountains of Silence, and I am so happy that I picked it up! It was a beautifully-written, engaging, interesting, enthralling, and exciting book that really helped inform me about a period of history that I had previously known very little about. The characters were likeable, believable, and well-written, and the prose was lovely. . . it drew you in and held you there! I also really enjoyed learning about a time period that I had never really learned about before. . . I honestly knew so little about the Spanish Civil War before I read this book, so it was really cool to be able to learn more about it in such an engaging and interesting way. The Fountains of Silence is definitely something I'd recommend for anyone who is looking for a good historical fiction read. I will be looking for more of Ruta Sepetys' writing in the future!
