The Fountains of Silence is one of the most interesting historical fiction novels that I've read in awhile. There was a great balance between hopefulness and tragedy to really leave a lasting mark.

The individual stories portrayed between Ana, Daniel, and the other characters kept the story fast paced. Although the book is a semi-lengthy 474 pages, the short chapters keep it from seeming too overwhelming.

During the story, I found myself rooting for Ana and Daniel's love story, but also rooting for truth and justice in their community. I liked that the ending fast forwarded 18 years into the future so the reader could see what the characters had been up to and that there was a glimmer of justice for these people. The Fountains of Silence is a great choice for readers of historical fiction, especially if you like The Light Between Oceans or The Nightingale.
