Three words to describe this book. Timeless, powerful, and addictive. Ruta Sepetys has a way of immersing you into her stories and making you feel like you are one of the characters alive during that time period. In this book she alternates the point of view the story is told in between the two main characters, Daniel and Ana, who have their own personal stories to tell. She does an amazing job of weaving the two characters storylines together even though they come from very different backgrounds. This is the second book I’ve read by Ruta Sepetys and this one did not disappoint. Both have amazing characters, settings and love stories. This was definitely one of the best YA historical fiction books I’ve ever read.
