I liked how each of the characters are affected differently by the war: Ana has a secret that she must protect at all costs and Daniel deals with the prejudices towards outsiders. I am interested in discovering what Ana is hiding and how Daniel will navigate the relationship with his parents.
While I thought that some of the prose was beautifully written, some of it seemed expository and simplistic.
However, I love the colors of the cover and the pop of red compliments the gold tones well.
