First, I have been reading about the Spanish Civil War recently so I am very interested in the time and place setting of the story. I loved it’s insight into love under Franco, especially the constraints on women. I am drawn to learn more about Ana’s backstory. And the Americans in Spain seem quite clueless, cushioned in their wealth. I need to read this book!
