Sandie Jones' The First Mistake is a unique and surprisingly unputdownable suspense novel.

It follows the life of Alice and those closest to her: her husband Nathan, deceased husband Tom, best friend Beth, and her two daughters Olivia and Sophia. The story starts innocently enough and Jones creates characters that you instantly care about. I can't say much more because I don't want to give anything away but trust me this one is filled with great twists, solid writing, and complicated characters to where you don't know who you want to root for most.

Maybe it's because I read too many reviews about this one before going in but I sort of figured the plot out pretty early on so I missed out on that big reveal. But there were still other twists that really got me and I loved when the story went to Beth's perspective.

I really liked this one! It was an easy read, quick, exciting, everything you want in a good suspense.
