HONESTY IS THE BEST POLICY 👎🏻
Let’s talk about books that we did not finish (DNF).

I know that The First Mistake by Sadie Jones is raved about here on #bookstagram but I literally couldn’t continue it. I started it as an audiobook while on a long drive and I simply couldn’t focus. It had absolutely nothing to do with the narrator’s voice (which tends to be an issue with audiobooks), but rather with the content. Trust me: I’ve listened to full audiobooks that sound like Siri is reading them just because the storyline was so good. The First Mistake is a domestic “thriller,” but I found nothing thrilling about it. The “developments” were entirely predictable, and the protagonist struck me as lame. I listened to the audio and then switched to the paperback until about chapter 15. When I realized that I didn’t care AT ALL about the story or the characters, I decided that it was probably time to kick this one to the curb.

Do I hate it? No. I actually have zero feelings towards it because it was so lackluster. Does it get a star rating? No, because I don’t care enough to put energy into rating something I didn’t finish...
