I was so excited to read Sandie Jones second book, but The First Mistake fell short for me. I was intrigued with the plot and premise and found myself quickly submerged into the story and the characters. However, within the first quarter of the book, I found myself wanting to skip ahead. It started to drag on and the character Alice began to seem so repetitive in her insecurities. I do understand that grief comes in a multitude of ways so I continued on page by page in hopes of a better outcome than what I was feeling. Halfway though the book I felt like the paced picked up some and I was enjoying what I was reading again. Getting to the end peaked my interest more and more, and then it all went downhill very quickly. I did not like the ending nor the 'bad guy' finish. I will still read all she writes.
